Hello Lovely Readers,

Today for our Writerly Wednesday, we have Richard Tyler Jordan, who is dropping us right in the middle of an interview between INTV and the main character of Suite Charity, Timothy Trousdale. So, sit back and enjoy (and get excited for next Tuesday, when you can get your own copy of Suite Charity!)

INTV: How did you end up in New York City?

TIMOTHY TROUSDALE: I blame books. It started with wanting to become a novelist. Then I decided New York was where novelists belonged. Then I discovered that New York was also where landlords belonged, and they were considerably more successful than novelists. Unfortunately, that particular life choice eventually led me straight into the events of Suite Charity.

INTV: What surprised you most about life in New York?

T.T.: How quickly New York changes your standards. When I arrived, I dreamed of a spacious apartment, a successful writing career, and true love. After six months, I’m just happy that my radiator has stopped making demonic possession sounds.

INTV: How do you handle rejection?

T.T.:   Badly. The first rejection hurt. The fiftieth rejection hurt. The hundredth hurt. On the bright side, I’ve become remarkably difficult to discourage.

INTV: If you could have dinner with any author, living or dead, who would it be?

T.T.: Richard Tyler Jordan. I’d like five uninterrupted minutes to ask why he couldn’t simply write pleasant stories about me finding success as a novelist and falling in love. Instead of making me trip over dead bodies in every book.

INTV: What’s the most annoying thing about your author, Richard Tyler Jordan?

T.T.: Every time my life becomes comfortable, he gets an idea. A normal person sees a happy young writer having a pleasant afternoon. Richard sees that and says, “Oh, this guy desperately needs a murder to solve.”

INTV: Do you think your author treats you fairly?

T.T.: Absolutely not. He placed me in New York, where I can barely pay my bills, and then dropped me into another murder.  Meanwhile, Richard lives in England and visits sheep and castles. **You tell me who’s winning.

INTV: Do you ever feel like your author is using your suffering for entertainment?

T.T.: Let’s review the evidence. He made me broke. Complicated my love life. Dropped dead bodies in my path. Then he turned the whole thing into Suite Charity. You draw your own conclusions.

INTV: You seem to be a murder magnet. Why do you think that is?

T.T.: I don’t know. What I do know is that nobody ever says, “Timothy, you seem to be a magnet for unexpectedly large inheritances.” It’s always murder.

Want to know more about Suite Charity?

He came to New York to write murder mysteries. He didn’t expect to keep stumbling into real ones.

Timothy Trousdale came to New York to become a rich and famous bestselling author. Instead, he keeps tripping over murdered bodies, in this sharp, humorous cozy mystery.

Fresh out of community college and broke, Timothy is convinced success is just one lucky break away. What he finds is a punishing parade of humiliating temp jobs—until a miracle occurs. SwellHire Top Temps places him in a paid internship at the Adele Cummings Foundation for the Arts, a glittering charity where millions flow freely and no one hears how pretentious they sound.

Then a rising cabaret singer destined for stardom turns up murdered after a successful nightclub performance.

The police are satisfied with a tidy explanation. Timothy—who has read far too many mystery novels—is not. As the aspiring novelist and reluctant amateur sleuth starts asking inconvenient questions, he discovers the Foundation is built on polished secrets and the strategic disappearance of anyone who makes things awkward. When anonymous threats begin lighting up his phone, it becomes clear that caring too much in a world of money and philanthropy galas may be the most dangerous job he’s ever had. But Timothy Trousdale—perennial outsider and amateur detective—is not about to ignore a murder.
