Welcome to the Wolf’s Den. I’m Kit Witek, and with Little Girl X releasing June 9th, I thought it was the perfect time to invite a few characters into the den for a conversation. Today’s guests are two of the book’s main characters Detective Dalton Riley and Senior Acquisitions Analyst, Samantha Taylor. They spend much of the novel trying to uncover the truth, but as you’ll see, they don’t always agree on how to get there. Maybe today we’ll get to see a little of what makes them tick.

KIT WITEK: Welcome, Samantha and Dalton. Let’s start with an easy one. If readers could describe you in three words, what would you hope they’d choose?

SAMANTHA: Determined. Loyal. Survivor.

DALTON: Relentless. Protective. Tired.

SAMANTHA: Tired?

DALTON: That’s what happens when my job description includes keeping track of you.

SAMANTHA: I don’t need supervision.

DALTON: Says the woman who happens to enjoy her margaritas.

SAMANTHA: You said you weren’t counting!

DALTON: I’m a detective, hazard of the job.

KIT: Well, that’s a strong start. Next question. Who is more stubborn?

SAMANTHA: Dalton.

DALTON: Samantha.

[voice from the edge of the den]: They’re BOTH impossible!

DALTON: Nobody invited you, Nicole.

NIKI: Yet, here I am, love.

KIT: Looks like we have CSI Agent, Nicole Morgan in the den! Moving on. What’s your greatest strength?

SAMANTHA: I don’t quit. Even when I probably should.

DALTON: That’s also her greatest weakness.

SAMANTHA: I wasn’t asking for commentary.

DALTON: We’re kind of doing an interview together, so… commentary.

KIT: Dalton, your answer?

DALTON: I pay attention. Most people only see what’s right in front of them. I notice what’s missing.

KIT: What is something you admire about the other person?

SAMANTHA: He never gives up on people. Even when they give him every reason to.

DALTON: She keeps fighting when most people would’ve folded a long time ago.

SAMANTHA: That’s almost sweet.

DALTON: Don’t get used to it.

KIT: If you had to trust your life to one person, who would it be?

SAMANTHA: My father.

DALTON: Nicki Morgan.

SAMANTHA: Really?

DALTON: Don’t make a thing out of it.

NICKI: While I’m flattered, love, I think you just did.

KIT: I’m staying out of this one. Last question. Without spoilers, why should readers pick up Little Girl X?

SAMANTHA: Because sometimes the truth isn’t lost. It’s waiting for someone brave enough to uncover it.

DALTON: Because some secrets refuse to stay hidden and you have to face them in order to move on.

SAMANTHA: That’s surprisingly dramatic.

DALTON: That’s because I hung around you for over 300 pages.

SAMANTHA: You can’t blame everything on me you know.
