Happy Wednesday Readers! Today Sabine Barclay returns to the blog with an interview with the lead of her newest Dark Mafia Romance, Dillan O’Rourke. You can find his story in Mob Boss which just released yesterday. Take it away, Sabine!

Sabine: Hello, Dillan.

Dillan: Hello.

Sabine: Dillan, thanks for sitting down with me today. I’m looking forward to readers getting to know you a little better. You’re the oldest of the six O’Rourke cousins. You’re the Skipper.

Dillan: I am. But I never use that title. Neither does anyone else.

Sabine: You’re considered the family mastermind. Do you think so?

Dillan: I have a strategic mind, but I do nothing without the other guys’ opinions.

Sabine: How old were you when you stepped into your role?

Dillan: I was thirty. But I’ve played an integral leadership role since I was a teenager.

Sabine: Teenager?

Dillan: I was somewhere between thirteen and nineteen when I started getting more involved.

Sabine: What does that mean?

Dillan: Like I said, I have a strategic mind. I come up with at least three permutations for each problem, then another three potential consequences for each. It was useful even back then.

Sabine: Have you ever considered getting out?

Dillan: Who hasn’t thought about it? But I’ve never considered it. I was born into this, and so were my cousins, so were my parents and their siblings, so were my grandparents. Our connection goes back to before my family arrived in America. If I walk away, then what? I’d be an easy mark. My family would never allow that, so they’d become bigger targets than they already are. I will never do that to them. So here I am.

Sabine: How did you end up as the mob boss?

Dillan: Line of succession. My grandfather was the boss when I was a kid. My mom’s brother, Donovan, inherited it. When he died, and I was out of town, his cousin, Declan, elbowed his way in. Bad choices ended that fast. That’s how we got to me. Since Donovan had no kids, I was the heir apparent since I was a kid.

Sabine: What happened to Colleen?

Dillan:** She died.

Sabine: Will you tell me more?

Dillan: No, I will not.

Sabine: Do you think Greta would have approached you if she hadn’t been at your club for a reason?

Dillan: I call my wife Greta. Her name is Margaret. We approached each other. She’s my soulmate, so it wouldn’t have mattered if one of us approached the other. We’re opposite poles who will always come together and stick.

Sabine: I think that’s a good note to end on. Thank you for sitting down with me. When can we look forward to your story?

Dillan: It’s already here. You’ll learn all about Margaret—Mairghráid—and me. I suspect the next of us to fall in love is my cousin Finn. I sense his turn as the Mob Star will happen later this spring. They say don’t date someone you meet at a bar. That doesn’t apply when you own the bar.
