Easter at the castle!
Will the lion befriend the lamb?
The Widow: Widow, Lady Rachael Bainard is furious to learn that her uncle has set up a betrothal for her to their enemy, the Lion of the South. Her young son needs a father, but one bad marriage was enough for her. She is in no hurry to marry again. If she can stall long enough, Lent will begin. By the laws of the church, no marriages are allowed during Lent. She is hoping this will give her the time she needs to figure out how to break the betrothal. Unfortunately, her uncle sends her to The Lion, planning on having her marry him right away.
The Lion: Lord Lionel Hatchet lost his wife years ago, and needs a wife to help him raise his unruly daughter. For the sake of alliances, he has agreed to marry Lady Rachael Bainard, but she is late in arriving and precious time is ticking away. The start of Lent is nearly upon them. This means no meat, dairy, or even coupling is allowed for the six weeks leading to Easter. This is enough to drive any man mad. To add to his increasing concerns, he is dealing with the death of his father, smugglers, and his daughter dressing like a boy and sneaking off to drink at the tavern. He needs this marriage and he needs it fast!
Will this time of intense fasting before the holiest holiday of them all bring two troubled people together, or will it ruin a marriage before it has even begun?
