Happy Wednesday Readers!
Today, we’re joined by the ever-talented Karen Foley! Karen has written numerous Contemporary Romances, often with a bit of suspense added into the mix, and her newest book, What’s Left of Me, is no exception. We’re so thrilled to have her here today to tell us all about it. So, without further ado, let’s get to it.
Tell us a little bit about The Bittersweet Harbor series and What’s Left of Me.
The Bittersweet Harbor series follows the five Belshaw sisters, whose family owns and operates an iconic diner on an island in Maine. My latest release is What’s Left of Me, the second book in the series. Holden Foster has loved Kate Belshaw since he was a teenager, but believed she was lost to him forever after she married his best friend. Now she’s a single mom and Holden finally has a chance to win her heart—as long as she doesn’t discover the dark secret from his past that could change everything she believes about him.
What was the inspiration for this book?
My love language is Acts of Service. When my husband does something sweet to make my day easier, it means so much to me. Holden is a true hero who would do anything for the girl he loves. He spends years showing Kate how much he loves her through a thousand small acts even though she doesn’t see it, at least not right away. But will one well-intentioned act gone horribly wrong be enough to destroy Kate’s budding love for Holden?
Describe the book’s hero in three words.
Steadfast, strong, vulnerable.
Do you model characters or settings after people or places that you know?
Bittersweet Harbor is inspired by the New England coastal town of Newburyport, MA, where I briefly lived growing up and where my family and I love to spend our free time. It has so much to offer—boutique shops and restaurants, a rich seafaring history, beaches and walking trails and incredible beauty. I wanted to create a small town with that same touristy vibe, but located a bit off the beaten path. As far as my characters—I haven’t yet based a character on anyone I know, but I may have borrowed some quirky habits or mannerisms every now and then!
What can we expect next from you?
The third book in my Bittersweet Harbor series is called One Last Thing. Rowan Belshaw is a marine biologist and a fierce environmentalist. So when wealthy Theo Hunt arrives in town with plans to build a luxury hotel along her precious waterfront, she’ll do whatever it takes to stop him, even if it means losing the one thing she wants above all else—him.
