Hello Lovely Readers,
Today on the blog, we have the wonderful Virginie Marconato. She’s here to celebrate the release of her new novel, A Savior for Branwen.
A Chinese portrait.
If I were a season I would be spring, when everything comes back to life.
If I were an animal, I would be a… Well, I’d like to say horse, as I am fascinated by them but I don’t think it’s a good fit for me. In Chinese astrology I am monkey, and I think the creativity and mischievousness of the agile little creature suits me quite well. But in reality I think I would be a furry, plump little mammal, something like a marmot maybe.
If I were an object, I would be something medieval of course. Maybe a sword or a beautiful ring. Or a velvet dress.
If I were a fruit, I would be a cherry, round, sweet, shiny and delicious 😉
If I were a colour, I would be turquoise. Depending on the day. I would tend more toward the blue or the green.
If I were a famous monument, I would be a medieval castle overlooking a dramatic landscape, obviously. One like Dolbadarn, in Wales but at the height of his glory. (I think you can tell I’m happy to be there)
If I were someone from history, I would be Edward IV of England. He’s always fascinated me. Conquering his throne in battle at the age of 19, marrying a woman he had chosen himself, and an older widow… He’s the type of hero I write about.
If I were one of my characters, I would be Carys, the heroine in my release to come, a Second Chance for Carys. She is 47, a bit older than me, but because of it, I feel close to her. So close that I named her hero James, like my own husband. But if I could choose which I want to be, rather than who I resemble the most, I would choose Eyja from Seducing the Warrior, in my Noble Norsemen series. She is fierce and sweet, and she has Moon, the blond, longhaired Norseman to look after her. Swoon…
Want to know more about A Savior for Branwen?
Matthew, an English noble, and Branwen, a poor Welsh villager, couldn’t be more different, yet an undeniable attraction pulls them together. As Matthew resists the temptation to fall for her, convinced that she may have been sent to trap him, Branwen struggles to escape the unwanted attention of men.
As they navigate their growing feelings, past wounds and hidden desires are revealed, forcing them to confront the obstacles in their way—can they overcome their differences and the danger surrounding them to find love?
I think I became a writer the day I decided to write a (very bad, shamefully close to the real story) version of White Fang when aged nine or ten! As for the Middle Ages I fell in love with it at school during a history lesson, then Kevin Costner’s Robin Hood put its final seal on it all. A girl of twelve then, I never recovered!
